Freeze, melt, evaporate, condense

So it is then, this is how it is. Do you see threads once tied being broken, friendships once had being lost? Only the night sky stays the same, and the ever so faithful stars which we hardly see over here-- nevertheless, they're the same. We are in love with them because they stay fixed in the starting line we return to when everything else is ( Read more... )

(how many "you"s do you have in this text?)

It's not only a matter of what meteors we may take delight in in that moment: some stars die out more quickly than others--those who shine more brightly will immolate themselves sooner. Perhaps, too, people who offer you more safety now may be the earliest to drift?

There's nothing you can do really except place your trust in people (as they say no man is an island; I doubt you would be you if you didn't trust anyone). No escape, then; this is what living is, change and chaos. Your harbour may break apart one day and you will then be adrift again.

Take what solace you can--because sometimes even hope is too much to ask for.

Hope might be too much to ask for but we still do; dare not hope but we want to, and promises will always be comforting for that moment in time, no matter how untrue our cynical sides know they are. Life measures your ability to adapt doesn't it, and sustain in yourself a hope which might get disappointed time after time but nevertheless still a sort of faith. And to lose that faith is to lose the meaning in life and to lose yourself in the process.

It's not necessarily true that those who shine more brightly immolate themselves sooner; they shine more brightly because they're near you but that doesn't need to mean they'll burn themselves out faster. The sun still beams steadfast as ever.
