underwater kingdom
the fisherman saves a turtle from some little kids
the turtle takes him to the under sea kingdom
he meets the princess they fall in love
he stays there for years
he decides he wants to tell his family how happy he is or that he misses his family (i've heard a few versions)
and he tells the princess he wants to go to the surface
and the princess says "i dont want you to forget about me so here's this box, but you must never look inside"
so he goes on the surface finds that he's been under for like 100 years
everyone he knows is dead
someone convinces him that the princess has tricked him
and gets him to open the box
making him think there's treasure inside or something
he opens the box and he gets old instantlycause inside the box was his time on the surface
so yeah he dies
at least i think that was what was in the box
