I am so tired and sleep deprived that I totally think I could sleep for 24 hours without waking. I worked 4 nights in a row starting Thursday, and each night was insanely busy. Everyone was in labor. And so help me if another woman rolls up 8 cm with a bulging bag and previous vertical csection incision and breech baby, I might scream. She came up at 1:40 trying to push and all, and I rolled her to the OR at 2. I was placing an IV, a Foley catheter, shaving her, and drawing labs while the doctor consented her for delivery. I worked 13 to 15 hours each shift. After working 4 in a row, I had to stay three hours late to catch up with my charting. I didn't get home til almost 11 and didn't go to sleep since I had to pick the kids up at 2. I went 28 solid hours without sleep. I felt hung over and drunk riding around yesterday and even today. And with that, I'm off to bed early again. Whew.
