Now for the reprogramming.

Jonah went to Chris' parents last weekend so we had a childless weekend. Since his dad had off Columbus Day, they didn't bring him back until yesterday. So, we had a whole three nights without him. By the end of Sunday, I was ready for him to come home. Of course, the rest of the time, we stayed so busy I didn't have time to miss him. We were so exhausted on Sunday though that we really didn't do much.

Friday
I got about 4 hours of sleep on Thursday night. Got up Friday and took Jonah down to Huntsville. I drove back in the hardest rain I've driven through in quite a while (slowed down to 40mph for about 10 miles on I-65 N). I had time to walk in the house, take as fast a shower as I could, jump into Chris' car and head out towards the airport for the Music City Brew-off Club Crawl thingy. Regional homebrew clubs and a Kentucky distillery that's moving into town (into the old Yazoo building, they had a phenomenal spiced rum and a pretty good pumpkin spiced moonshine) each had a booth in a meeting room at the Holiday Inn out there and we all poured beer until nearly midnight. Was a lot of fun, but we didn't get home until after 1am. At which point, we got a couple of frantic calls from a friend of ours making sure we had the silver medal from Nationals. He thought he had lost it in his drunken state. ;)

Saturday
We SLEPT IN! Even Chris who wakes up at 7am even when hungover slept until about 9am. We bummed around finishing off a pot of coffee before deciding to go get "breakfast" at about 12:30. We drove down to the Loveless Cafe where they were having their Biscuits and Bluegrass festival. There were some really good pickers there and the new barn venue is really nice. But, I wasn't much in the mood to wait 2 hours for a table or for an expensive plate of their barbecue. So, we sat, listened to music for a bit while we decided what to do next and watched kids getting horse rides and playing in the petting zoo they had set up. Then we decided to drive out to Nolensville to Martin's Barbecue, because we've never tried it before and it's nationally acclaimed. I had brisket tacos and Chris had the Redneck taco. That would be a Johnny cake (cornmeal pancake) topped with a PILE of pulled pork and slaw and smothered in your choice of their sauces. We also got an order of their smoked wings and tried their "Alabama white sauce" which is NOT Alabama white sauce, I can say without a doubt. Vinegar and mayo, people, it's not that hard! ;) The wings were fantastic, by the way. We also ran into our friends Tom and Kat who had been at the club crawl the night before and were headed back south to Lawrenceburg where their little one was spending the night with grandparents as well. So, we had lunch with them, then parted ways. Then we had to figure out what to do next. We kept racking our brains to think of things we couldn't do with a kid in tow. So, we drove to Cool Springs to Woody's Smokes and Brews and sat there enduring a football game while we smoked cigars and split a beer or two. It's really cool how many beer/cigar stores around here are set up with a lounge. The cashier was impressed with my choice of cigar (CAO Brazillia). It's a full bodied cigar. I guess most women who come in go for the Acid cigars or the flavored stuff outside of the humidors. I really don't care for sweet cigars though. As we got a little too relaxed and on the verge of nap there, we called up our friend Jonathan to see where they were in the judging for the competition. Turns out they were on the pub crawl and were at Bosco's. So, we drove up to meet them and follow them on their pub crawl to Blackstone and then to Big River (blech!). Then it was back out to the hotel for the awards ceremony and raffle prizes. We didn't send any entries at all this year, but we bought some raffle tickets and won a yeast starter kit. This consists of a liter Erlenmeyer flask, a stir plate with magnets, including one to keep you from dumping your stir bar when you pitch the starter and some DME (dried malt extract). Oh, and we also won a crappy cheap pint glass from Lexington Brewery (I say it's cheap because when I was putting it in the dishwasher last night, I could tell the difference in weight and feel in that one and the rest of the ones we have) and a khaki Great Divide visor. Yes, visor. Really. We had skipped dinner on the pub crawl, except having split a pizza at Blackstone, so we decided to try out Cafe Coco, since we've never been. It really was good for late night food and quite entertaining, given the high percentage of hipsters in their clientele. There was a guy in line who was wearing a leopard print Snuggie and shorts. Seriously. And then, as those who follow me on Twitter/Facebook know, I entertained myself by eavesdropping on a table of hipsters who were discussing religion. Then it was home well after 1am again.

Sunday
Slept in AGAIN! This time until about 11:30am. Again, drank a pot of coffee then rolled out of the house because Chris wanted to go get some lunch and see if he could get his hands on an HTC Hero to play with (which came out at 1pm Sunday). Best Buy didn't have them, nor do they have ANY working phone displays, except for the iPhones. So, we went to Blue Coast Burrito for some lunch, then headed to Green Hills to the nearest Sprint store which was ridiculously packed and of course, the Hero they have on display is dead. Big ol' waste of time. Headed back home to bum around the rest of the day, do some laundry and dishes (since we hadn't been home all weekend pretty much) and pick up around the house (was embarrassed that my kid hadn't been home in two days and there were still toys everywhere and a sippy cup on the table and such).

Monday
Chris' parents came up and met us all for lunch at Gabby's Burgers and Fries over by the baseball stadium. It was a really good burger and fantastic sweet potato fries! They were cut kind of like steak fries and were so crispy on the outside and soft and almost mashed like on the inside. Jonah got a great show at the construction site over there. We ate outside and he got to watch dump trucks, trains, diggers, bulldozers and a crane at work the whole time we were there. Brought him home and put him down for a nap with MUCH resistance (I can tell he's been at the grandparents' house, that's for sure).

Today
Getting back into the groove. Feel like I've been on vacation. Jonah didn't want to go to school this morning, but I managed to talk him into it when I told him Giraffie wanted to go play at school. Then he was ok with it. If it's what Giraffie wants. . . ;) I'm trying to get back into routine. I'm almost caught back up on the house. Just floors to do and laundry to fold and I'll be back on track. Might try to make another pendant today. I've got an update coming of what I've been up to lately, but, well, it can wait for now. And if you've been following Twitter or Facebook or my jewelry or costuming blogs, (most all of which dump to Facebook anyway), you're probably caught up on all of it anyway.

Also, ConCraft, you should get an issue. I contributed an article, but a lot of actually talented people did as well, so there should really be some great stuff in there!

Also, also, dual file this under random statements and Twilight embarrassment: I'm completely hooked on the Death Cab song (Meet Me on the Equinox) that's on the New Moon soundtrack because, SHUT UP! that's why. I kind of want a Team Victoria shirt. And I want it to say, "I'm just here for the LOLZ" on the back.;)

childless weekend, jonah
