I'm gonna live forever...

...or so the song goes. I played Miss Sherman in "Fame, the Musical" this weekend at my HS. I'm pretty sure I am the only teacher in our history to subject herself to playing a principle role in the school musical. Our theatre department was hurting, so I thought it might help to put butts in the seats. I was right.. we sold out! It was very well-attended-- lots of Miss Volpe's students showed up to see the spectacle! And it actually turned out pretty darn well, if I do say so myself. I always find it amazing how stage shows seem to be in shambles, but somehow magically come together in the 11th hour. And that's what happened with Fame. (That's why I didn't advertise the show much.. I was VERY nervous I was going to make a fool of myself, but luckily that didn't happen.) Anyway, I must say I'm glad it's over just because I might now have a minute to breathe. I think we put in about 60 hours of rehearsal in the last 2 weeks (on top of a regular workweek-- ugh!). On the bright side, I got to know some great kids a lot better (I love my job), I reminded myself how much I enjoyed theatre-- got a little taste of it and might just look into some community theatre in the future-- if I do, I promise I won't keep it a secret like I did with this show!).
So I MC'd the lip sync contest a couple of weekends ago, and last week, "modeled" in a prom fashion show to raise funds for the kids' after-prom party. busybusybusy
Next mission: take 100 teenagers on their Senior Class Trip to Disneyworld; departure on THURSDAY! Yes, I am running the trip again this year. I'm looking forward to it, but jeez, could I take on one more thing?? The trip is the last major thing I have this school year (I hope!).
Would someone please remind me not to do this to myself again?!??!?

Another bright note: what a gorgeous weekend!! Yippee-- spring is here! I can't believe festival season is just around the corner. We are now in the final quarter of school-- 10 weeks to go... ah, SUMMER is coming. I just heart it.
