Weekend update

I've decided writing about the trip is getting difficult and I just don't want to write that much! Guess you'll just hafta go see for yourselves... j/k I'm getting around to it.

So this past weekend...
Friday, since Komitee and Rachel were in the state I called and was like "hey, you free for dinner?" So they came over for dinner, brought us chocolates (YAY) and I made chicken parm (yum), chitchatted about Komitee's new job and their new apt and the such and called it a night.

Saturday, mulled around the house, finished a book I was reading, decided against doing laundry, and then got ready to go out for the day.  Matt's grandfather had found in a book somewhere some of the Van Liew history that I can't remember how they are related. So we drove over to Woodbridge perhaps? (don't know what town we were actually in) and found the Van Liew cemetery. Matt hadn't done research yet to see if anyone buried there is related to him so we found a couple gravestones, took pics of them and we left. Kinda weird? No not really compared to the Hansons who visit relatives in cemeteries regularly and pose next to gravestones to send to the rest of the family to see where they've been.  Then we drove around whatever town we were in, and made it to the Van Liew -"somebody I can't remember" House dated 1800 something? There is a society doing the work on it, wasn't open when we were there but Matt looked it up online to find that they do some things there so maybe sometime we'll go see what's going on.
Then we decided to hit 6flags since the weather was nice, ended up stuck in traffic on the turnpike (wtf-ing idiots getting into accidents) between exits of course so there was no way around it.  Eventually we made it to the park and dood there were people everywhere, ok not that many but a decent amount for a September afternoon.  But since the weather was nice it wasn't that bad and we left after a few hours.

Sunday, again with the mulling around the house not wanting to do laundry.  Got ready for the day and hit Katmandu in Trenton for brunch.  The spread was better than I was expecting for only $16/pp AND they had the chocolate fountain running (they have that for happy hour as well) with strawberries, rice krispie squares, marshmallows, oreos, some other random stuff to dip in the chocolate, and it was awesome, YAY for sugar rush!
Then we went over to the Sovereign Bank arena for Cirque du Soleil's Saltimbanco and paid 8 freakin bucks for parking, sheesh.

Anywho, the show was amazing, adapted slightly to be run in an arena instead of the tent.  The stage was taller than in the tent so sitting up close would be difficult if you're short.  Oh, and since it wasn't in the tent the seating was way better and my knees weren't in my face!  There were some different acts I hadn't seen before and overall thrilled with the show (this one is their oldest running show).  As opposed to the new shows they have out (Wintuk and Kooza) that are definitely aimed for the American audience with dialogue and songs in English and toned down performances.

And after the show an uneventful afternoon of f-ball and Matt running around the living room waving his Giants flag and blanket, what a dork :-P
