Bro had bought floor seats to Kenny Chesney’s Poets & Pirates Tour stop in Baltimore. So of course I wanted to go and Smoo came with me! It wasn’t that torturous, he’ll listen to Big & Rich with me.
So Saturday morning we drove down to MD (in the rain) to Bro and Annie’s and then we all piled into their jeep to drive (in the rain) up to the show in B’more at Ravens stadium. I’m going to say yes it will be my one and only time to ever walk on the field of a NFL stadium (tours don’t count). There was a flooring put down (think Stevens graduation, it annoyingly reflects the sun) but there were open spots that I walked on.
And the rain gods had pity on me… it stopped raining when we got to the show, tailgated for a little while with the crazy/drunk redneck fans. Smoo and I posed in front of a green screen so we have a “photo” with Brooks & Dunn that I need to figure out how to post somewhere. Having field seats was totally AWESOME and we weren’t that far back either which rocked. The line-up…
1. Some local B’more band: so-so, he wrote his own songs and didn’t screech so I was able to hear the lyrics
2. GARY ALLEN!!! whom I’m still in love with after all these years :-P
3. Leann Rimes: first time seeing her, she’s ok… her backup singer was hilarious, she pranced around and clapped and sometimes sang which provided us with entertainment, also to note Leann has HUGE nostrils.
4. BIG & RICH totally put on a good show and enjoy performing, cowboy Troy and the midget also made appearances which totally made my day when at one point cowboy Troy ripped off his shirt to reveal his Superman t-shirt. Big Kenny wore that stupid hat that he’s always wearing, and at the end of their last song they smashed their guitars, which is cool but hello!?! that’s not very “green” of them :-P
5. Brooks & Dunn are still awesome, Bro got to get a photo with them for his fan club meet & greet, says they’re starting to show their age. Ronnie still throws drumsticks into the crowd, and Kix threw his hat out at the end as usual.
6. Kenny Chesney (headlining) my 2nd time seeing him, and yes he’s an entertainer knowing how to get the crowd into it but since he doesn’t write his own songs and only plays guitar on a couple he’s not my favorite but still awesome to see… mainly cuz he’s buff :-P And at the end he signed a guitar and handed it to some kid and a roadie handed over a case for it. I was like OMG I need one of those to get free stuffs!!! There needs to be a kid borrowing service, I’d pay good money for one so I could get autographs and photo ops.
Sunday the 4 of us went to Annapolis for crabs, shrimps, and steamers, this place made their own chowder as well and we went to their dock to watch them sort crabs. In case you didn’t know the Naval Academy is there, so the boys in their uniforms were out… I almost got whiplash ;-) and we found a home-made ice cream shop and a fudge shop (choco/pb covered krispie treats are to die for).
Monday on the drive back home from MD Smoo and I “stopped in” at AC (Atlantic City) and ended up at Ceasars since its straight into their garage from the main road (it was raining sideways from the high winds). Smoo played blackjack as usual, and conveniently next to that table was an electronic roulette table game. There were 12 terminals to play at, it’s touch screen so there were no chips at all and it made it run smooth (except for the blind old people who couldn’t understand the dealers trying to help them without touching the screens). I think it was I didn’t know what I was doing and that’s how I ended up walking away $72 ahead.
So all in all it was a good weekend despite all the freaking rain.
Tonight I’m attending a seminar on the myth of global warming so I’ll have something to write about later.
