The Proposal:
In the Venetian Hotel and Casino there is the "Grand Canal" which is modeled after the streets in Venice and has mock store fronts along the waterway and all sorts of expensive stores (Cartier, Jimmy Choo, Mikimoto). So the previous times I've been in Vegas I've wanted to take a gondola ride along the canal, it's $60 for a private 2-person ride. This trip we finally had the money to splurge, so we took a ride on Monday (Nov. 6th).
Our Gondolier's name was Christiano and in the beginning of the ride he was talking about how they have a wedding gondola and people get married all the time. This was after he asked us where we were from and small talk and the such. And he said how it was just like Venice in Italy except no pigeons, it doesn't smell and it's a wonderful 72 degrees and partly cloudy everyday of the year. The boat gets down to the end where there's an atrium area where the gondoliers stop to sing an Italian song.
Christiano started singing and Matt was talking about it's been a good 4 years and this is a good trip for our anniversary and then asked me if I would marry him. After that I was crying/hyperventilating too much to remember what he was saying. I think after a few seconds I choked out a "yes". Everyone around clapped and Christiano finished his song. He congratulated us and asked about the ring and how Matt knew to get the right one... cuz I told him months and months ago. And yes I was TOTALLY surprised.
My ring is too sparkly to fully get the detail on it, so here's the link to the designer's web page:
