Writing is an Art; Not an Assignment

When in school, there are always papers to be written. Some papers are easier than others to write. For example, if the paper is on a subject that I enjoy and I'm given free reign to write about whatever strikes my fancy; its much easier to write what I would consider a good paper. However, when not only the topic is uninspiring, but the instructions for what the teacher wants to hear are too vague to pin down it makes writing a chore. I love to write, but when it becomes a chore it becomes very frustrating. I've spent the better part of the past week trying to write a paper for my history class and even thought it is for all practical purposes "finished", I hate the thing. I don't feel like its my best work and that feeling is compounded in anxiety since the teacher insists that we must pass the paper in order to pass the class. Ok.....I can write a paper, just tell me what you want that amounts to passing the class. But no.....the instructions are vague. So I will spend the next several days re-reading and re-working and wringing my hands over the project until I just give up and say screw it......it's not worth loosing my mind over. After having put so much angst into this project, he better give me an "A". :-)
