Twins and sexual orientation

Apr 12, 2011 22:53

Several twin studies show that when one identical twin is homosexual, the probability that the other twin will also be homosexual is 50-60%, whereas the concordance rate is only about 20% for fraternal twins and only about 11% for pairs of biologically unrelated boys adopted into the same family (Baily & Pillard, 1991; Baily, Pullard, Neale, & Agyei, 1993' Whitham, Diamond, & Martin, 1993).

40-50% of the time they do not share homosexual orientation; 50-60% of the time they do.

Then think about the flipside! I wonder... is there a % rate of correlation of being heterosexual? Is there a 70-80% chance that if one twin is hetero, then the other is too? Heterosexuality is more common as it is... It's like computer operating systems. Everyone is mostly a microsoft user. Then you have a much smaller percentage of linux users, or mac users (mac users are going up lately tho). Hmm.
