the cost of geekdom

Weather.com says that it is currently -18F/-28C air temp (-34F/-37C windchill) outside, yet it is time for me to get a shower and then wait outside for a bus to take me downtown before the sun is even up.  *brrrr*  But it's for a worthy cause, right?

There's a Microsoft developer's conference in Minneapolis today, and I'm expecting to get my paws on an actual Windows 7 official dvd.  Yay!  I want to learn more about this F# programming language.  Near as I can tell from reading a few blurbs, it's fated to someday replace both Visual Basic and C# as the language of choice for Windows environments.  I'm secretly hoping to win a Legos Mindstorm set at the end of the conference.  But then everyone else is probably hoping the same thing.  *sigh*

It's not helping that my internet connection has been flaky since midnight, and I'm crossing my fingers to hope that this post eventually makes it through the dropped packets.  I've been passing the time by watching The Alligator King in another window since I have it cached from previous viewing.  *laugh*
