torture session, part 2

Oct 25, 2010 11:54

The neuromuscular sub-specialist did the electromyogram this morning. It was a shorter session focusing only on my right leg and foot. He wanted to answer two questions. First, why was a dataset missing from one particular nerve during my extensive scan? Second, did my numbers change at all during the intervening time?

Like the doctor before him, he initially was unable to find a particular nerve on the upper part of my lower leg, near the ankle.  With persistence, he finally got a reading on it.  Apparently it's not in the usual position, and maybe it's deeper than it should be too.

Like the doctor before him, the results showed a subtle slowness in nerve impulse.  This time, however, the results were slightly improved over the first torture session.  I didn't go into the long story about how my backpacking adventure had resulted in improved (reduced) twitchiness.

The plan, as before, is simply to wait and see what happens.  *sigh*  When I'm back to "normal" twitchiness levels again, I'll start doing a series of experiments to find out what factor from backpacking caused an improvement in my nerve/muscle problem.
