For you locals in the Twin Cities, classic (1956) sci-fi movie "
Forbidden Planet" will show in 8 days at the
Heights Theater. Mark your calendar now, if this is the kind of thing that appeals to you. It's one showing, only!
This movie is worth a viewing on the big screen, especially if you've never seen it before. The story is based on a Shakespeare play ("The Tempest"), the special effects are pretty good for the time, and special prop "Robby The Robot" (shown in the movie poster) appeared in many movies and television series later on.
I plan to be there. Join me in the theater if you'd like. I'll probably walk from where I live since it's nearby. This theater is just a few blocks from
Lily's Cafe, if you've attended a Bear Coffee event there. The food and drinks are reasonably priced at this theater, unlike most others. They allow people to bring in ice cream from the Dairy Queen next door, too.
