I do, sometimes, get out of the house to be social. :) Yesterday, I joined
Outwoods for one of their urban safari adventures. They converge on a location and take photographs there.
Here are some shots taken by Steve and Dan. You can find
Steve's full photoset on flickr. My chin hair is so white now that I really need to update my livejournal icon to a more recent image. That dark beard in my icon is misleading these days, I suppose. It's the same hat, though. *laugh*
This is Dan's photo (on left) from the 2nd floor of me wondering how well I can capture (on right) the raised texture on the capitol's central star. I'm lousy with a camera, so of course it didn't turn out very well. Wrong focus depth.
Here is my gallery of photographs.
http://pics.livejournal.com/mellowtigger/gallery/0002caqx My favorites are the triffid, the cold (perky) harpy, the green lantern, and the outside concrete decoration that looks worn by acid from the city air pollution.
The images that I shot tended to be of technology and critters (carved of stone or metal). Most of my shots didn't work out and got deleted. Most of the trouble is that I'm not great at photography, but I'm also happy to lay part of the blame on my very old camera. I did run out of memory, but at least the battery survived the whole safari.
My gallery also includes an image that makes a very good metaphor. Steve got a photograph of a gold leaf statue where somebody's holding up a push broom (probably supposed to be a standard) behind some horses, ready to clean up their droppings. It seems like the perfect metaphor to place atop anybody's capitol building.
