Car up here or no?

Okay I need your opinions here regarding getting my car up here in Towson. I can only get a permit to park somewhere thats like 10-15 minutes walking distance from my apartment. The permit is $230 or something like that. There is a shuttle that can take me to my car and back to my apartment and vice versa, I am not sure where the shuttle stops are located yet though (but I plan on finding out regardless). I would not want to park my car at this place late at night (or really even when its dark) and walk back (the shuttle stops at 10) but there are metered spots in front of my apartment that I could park at overnight. I don't need my car for class because I can walk to class. The only reason I would need my car is to hang out with people. People have come to pick me up and my brother and Amy have let me go grocery shopping with them (and my mom takes me when I go home) and people have come to visit me. I just don't want to be a burden I guess. If I don't get a permit I probably won't be able to get one for my apartment til next year. So what do you think?
