Girls can rock too!
A guy I'd dated once upon a time once said girls shouldn't sing in rock bands. I was listening to music this morning and found a number of examples that would prove him wrong. These examples can be seen in the playlist i compiled below.
The best examples are probably Veruca Salt, The Breeders and Garbage. All bands with women who can hold their own with a rock band backing them and all having really great voices. Beth Gibbons'(Portishead) voice sound beautiful against the raw industrial sound of the music of "Machine Gun." I think the songs below demonstrate woman's voices fitting with different rock sounds such as new wave (Uh Huh Her), industrial (Portishead), indie (Tegan & Sara) or punk (Lush).
