1. There's something oddly comforting about being broke. Before I would be constantly calculating my spending, even if it was putting me further into the red. Now there's no questions, nothing to calculate. Amount in the bank? Nothing! Credit card? Maxed! What will I do? Not be a stupid ass!
2. People run a lot in Toronto, even when there's no reason to. Public transit here is amazing. The subway trains come every 2-5 minutes, and many bus routes are the same. If you've missed one, just catch the next and it makes little difference. Still they all run. There's not enough minutes in the day here, it seems.
3. There's also escalator etiquette. Stand to the right, walk to the left. I learned this the hard way. Stand on the walking side and somebody will TAKE YOU OUT.
4. One thing that does impress me about people and public transit here though is the etiquette. In general, people stay out of the way of eachother, and maximize space. I guess with so many people, there's a basic understanding that without these things, travel would be chaos.
5. This has turned into a short and boring list about commuting and manners. Sorry. I commute three hours a day though, so it's a prominent part of my life, and there's a lot more I could've said that I left out.
Oh hey. This is fairly off topic, but if any of the few of you reading this have a picture that you'd like to volunteer for me to draw, feel free to post it in reply. I'm planning on eventually advertising online to draw portraits and other sketches. It's hard to motivate myself in this area, unless money or my own word are involved. So post something, and I'll make sure to duplicate it if it's within my skill range. I'm a total amatuar, but I don't think I'm horrible.
