Just wondering...

Okay it's very late, but I have a quick question. Some say to live life in the present. We must realize everyday may be the last. Of course others say that the good things in life, the ones that are worthwhile take time. So do we go and seize what we want right now or wait for the right moments to happen? How do you guys think one should act? ( Read more... )

they are not mutually exclusive at all - they refer to entirely different things. you do both. a) you "seize the day" and do whatever you want when you want to. life is for living. monotony and boredom are the existential nightmare - you have to LIVE, have excitement and adventure and do fun things like elope and change your name on whims. it's a good way to live, i assure you. ;) then again, there's b) which means that some of those things you want in "a" aren't immediately available to you. you can want something, but just not have the money for it this second (a backpacking through europe trip) or another person doesn't want the same thing (like in a relationship) and so on and so forth. THOSE things you often have to plan on and wait for before they happen.

so yeah. both. just depends on the thing.
