Now that I pee'd...I just had another brilliant idea to spread the world with my music dorkness!!!

Under represent AMERICAN composers according to Bruce! Genius I tell you...

Let's start with Paul Creston

Listen to his first symphony...so cute! Marimba Concerto = percussion standard! Saxophone Sonata...need I say more....amazing

For those who can't get enough of rhythms... read his books Principles of Rhythm and Rational Metric Notation (I read Rational Metric Notation...just ask me about it...and I'll go on for hours...well...a good 7 minutes!)

Next - Howard Hanson

OMG...seriously folks...the neo-romantic melodious tones of Double H is fab. Symphony #1 "Nordic" has to be one of his greatest works written by him alongside his 2nd symphony "Romantic" (which is more commonly played). When you listen to the first symphony, you can't tell me that you're not taken away on a journey. Different melodies, harmonies, and counterpoint juxtaposed on top of each other creating this HUGE mass orgy of sound (can I really say that?!?)...breath-taking. The average Joe Listener would appreciate being able to tell the difference. Rhythmic Variations on Two Ancient Hymns...every string orchestra should play this! KVYO is going to play this...I have spoken! Lush with a capital 'L'.

Robert Muczynski (MU-CHIN-skiI)...

People...tell me you've heard of this guy?!? Saxophonist...you know his sonata (which is hella wicked *starts humming* - GO GARRETT MITCHELL!)...flutist...you should know his flute sonata (which is hella wicked too!)...cellist...you should know his cello sonata (and if you don't...come to my recital in the fall...I'll be playin' it!)...Pianist...come on...do I need to say more....he wrote soo much stuff for piano! If you like rhythm (just like with Paul Creston)...then you'll love this guy. Technical excellence is what's needed to master Muczynski (esp. with rhythm!!!). He was a true nerd @ heart.

George Antheil (ANN-tile)...

Sure he wrote music for very unconventional instruments (like airplane propellers, electric bells, and sirens)...but you have to admit...it's pretty kick ass. And besides...he was pretty hot back then...i'd listen just because of that (j/k). So you can listen too:

Woman Sonata - 2nd movement...*chuckle* - sounds like the woman got bitch slapped
Sonate Sauvage - yup...it's Antheil
Piano Concerto #1 - I see a circus!
Piano Concerto #2 - Hhhaha...so damn happy
Trumpet Sonata - Why aren't more people playing this?!? Gary (buglerb)...hop to it!

Now that I'm tired again...back to bed! Next time...GERMAN Composers who should get more credit...and I promise I wont say Schumann!
