A clock never watched

May 12, 2009 15:44

"The clock struck two, yet no one seemed to care. The clock struck three, they all got up to go. The clock struck four, yet there was no one to hear. The clock struck five, they all returned. And the day started again."

The clock was not moving. Tyler had been staring at it for the past five minutes and yet it remained on two o'clock. The teacher was going on and on about some poem about a clock, but no one was paying her any attention. Who really cared about some clock in a poem when the clock in real life was not moving. Why hadn't the clock moved? It had been at least five minutes since Tyler had started staring at the clock. Tyler looked around the classroom, a few students had their heads down, others were on their cell phones, and the rest were staring at the clock like Tyler. Tyler looked back at the clock. It read two oh five. Finally, the bell rang and Tyler was the first one out of the room
