sherlockkinkA/N: So, I've looked at the posts of what movie these two should be in and I figured why not. Although, this is them acting in a romantic movie, because the movie I made up isn't really a comedy. So I figured why not share... it's not my best work and I'm not sure if they are OOC. If they are then I'm so sorry! But, constructive criticism is love! ALSO! I wrote this before RDJ dropped everything to film the second Sherlock Holmes movie so, that'll make more after you start reading!
“Judesie!” You look up from your script to see Robert walking towards you with open arms. With a sigh and a roll of your eyes you stand up to give him the hug you know he’s looking for. “I missed you!”
You wrap your arms around his shoulders and hug him tighter then you probably need to. “Missed you too.”
The hug lasted longer then it should but neither one of you want to let go of the other. The only reason you do let go is because you hear someone clear their throat but even still, Robert keeps his arm around your waist and you keep yours around his shoulder. “Ms. Fletcher needs to talk to the both of you.”
You watch as the nervous assistant looks down at her feet, waiting for you and Robert to follow her. You nod before removing your arm and heading in the direction that the assistant came from. Naturally, Robert catches up, walking close enough to you that your hands brush a few times and every time they brush your whole arm tingles. It’s a strange feeling but a welcomed one.
“So, what have you been up to since Sherlock?” Robert isn’t looking at you, which means that he has something more important then that to ask you.
That doesn’t mean you’ll give in and just ask him what’s wrong. “Promoted ‘Repo Men’ and spent time with my family.” Your hands brush and all you want to do is intertwine your fingers with his but you think better of it knowing that he doesn’t want the same thing you do. “How about yourself?”
“Promoting, filming, family. Pretty much the same as you.” He still hasn’t looked at you and you’re starting to get slightly scared of what he really wants to say.
You start to say something but Robert interrupts you. “Susan misses you and as soon as she heard we were filming this said I have to force you to come to dinner with us.”
You smile at that and it grows when you realize he’s finally looking at you. You aren’t sure if that’s what he wanted to ask you because if it was you don’t really understand why he was scared to ask. “Of course! I do quite miss Susan. How is she?”
Robert’s eyes soften and a small smile appears on his face, just like it always does when he talks about his wife. “She’s amazing. She thought it funny that we’re doing a romantic comedy together.” He lets out a soft laugh and you feel your insides warm at the sound. “I know all of us joked about it but I never thought anyone would take it seriously and actually write one.”
You swear he doesn’t sound like himself but you chalk it up to you having not seen him in months. Given, you did try to spend time with him but nothing ever worked out for both of you. “I guess enough people really wanted one.”
He doesn’t say anything and you know he has more he wants to say but probably doesn’t want to say in front of someone neither of you know. That doesn’t mean you aren’t going to try and get it out of him, no matter how much you want him to say it of his own free will. “What’s wrong?”
He looks over at you and you feel your cheeks redden at the intensity of his stare. He glances at the girl walking a few feet in front of you before talking. “I’m sorry.”
You tilt your head at that. What was he apologizing for? He hadn’t done anything to hurt you as of late, not that he’s ever hurt you. If anything he should be apologizing for caring too much.
He looks away from you and you know that you aren’t going to like what he has to say. This isn’t the Robert you know. The Robert that is confident in everything he does and can make anyone smile. The Robert that never let you be sad or upset; the Robert that would sit with you if you weren’t feeling well or if something bad happened. You don’t know what happened to your Robert but you wanted him back.
“Jude?” You don’t realize you’ve zoned out until he says your name.
“Why?” You want to ask more but you don’t know how to ask it.
“Some of the times I said no to spending time with you, I had nothing going on.”
You stop walking when you hear this. He didn’t want to spend time with you?
“I’m sorry Jude.” You look at him before walking again but this time you don’t walk with him, you catch up and walk with the assistant. You know it’s petty and slightly childish but when someone you considered a great friend admits he doesn’t want to hang out with you, you’re allowed to act hurt.
You glance back at Robert who has started walking again too but is keeping a few feet behind you. Then you focus on the girl standing next to you. “Jude Law, and you are?”
She looks up at you but she doesn’t smile. However, she has a look in her eyes that means she wants something from you and your suspicions are conformed once you see her look from your eyes to our lips and then flash down. “I’m Katherine.”
“Well Katherine, I look forward to seeing around set.” Not that you actually plan on seeing her but she doesn’t know that and neither does Robert.
She finally smiles once you reach your destination. “You too Mr. Law.”
You place your hand on her shoulder and she blushed, while Robert opens the door and clears his throat. You look at him before smiling at Katherine. “Please, call me Jude.”
She nods and you drop your hand. You brush past Robert and into the room where there are a few seats, only two are unoccupied. You take your seat next to Anne and start looking at your script. You don’t watch as Robert sits down, and picks up his script.
Anne wastes no time getting down to business and you can’t really complain because the faster you finish this reading session, the faster you can be away from Robert. “Okay, so the whole point behind this movie is that Mark, and as everyone knows, that’s Robert, who owns a bookstore, is out of the closet and very comfortable with who he is. Unlike his love interest David, who is played by Jude, who doesn’t really know who he is. David moves into Mark’s small town, and they end up living in the same apartment complex and talk every once in awhile in the elevator or in the lobby. Their relationship goes from casual talking, to dinner, to David visiting Mark at the bookstore. Before either one notice what’s going on, they end up spending basically all their time together. Then David falls for Rachel, played by Katherine. Mark sees this as losing someone turns out, he fell for but he doesn’t let David see that it hurts him, trying to be the ever-loyal best friend. Turns out that Rachel was just using David to get Mark to sell his bookstore to her father. Once David finds out he just breaks and attaches himself to Mark, who David knows, would never hurt him. “ Anne looks around to everyone in the circle. “Sound good?”
You just sit there because you honestly hadn’t been listening. Instead, you had been focused on the way Robert was fidgeting because every once in awhile he would move as if he was going to put an arm on the back of your chair but then would think better of it. Then again, at least he was paying attention. “I think you got our characters mixed up.”
Everyone turns to look at Robert but Katherine is the one that asks, “What do you mean?”
Robert smiles and turns his head towards you. “Well, you’ve got it backwards, Jude is the one who’s pining for me.”
You meet his gaze. “And who’s the one who doesn’t know how to keep his hands to himself?”
“Why Judesie, I’m hurt! I thought you liked the touching.” You can’t help but laugh at how Robert puts his hand over his heart and the over dramatic sad look on his face.
“Oh yes, I love the constant touching. I missed it oh so much when we were apart.” You put as much sarcasm as you can in that one statement.
“I’m sorry! Had I known, I would have been by your side the whole time we were apart!” The words hurt. You know he’s just joking around and that chances are, he isn’t paying attention to what he’s saying.
“No, you’d probably cancel on me just because you could.” You want to storm out but you don’t think throwing a fit would benefit you.
He doesn’t say anything to that and you feel slightly bad because you hate how sad he looks. You have to fight yourself from apologizing and pulling him into a hug. Instead, you grab your cell phone and fake a phone call. “Anne, do you mind? It’s Iris.”
Anne nods and you open your phone. “Hello love.” You nod an apology to everyone else in the circle and leave the room.
Once outside you close your phone and head over to the trailer that was labeled as yours. You know you don’t have the whole story behind why Robert blew you off but you aren’t sure you want to be alone with him long enough for him to tell you. You know you’re acting childish and should probably listen to him but you don’t want to.
“Jude.” Of course Robert would follow you.
“Robert?” You turn and lean against your trailer door, trying to act as though nothing was wrong.
“We need to talk.” You nod and pull open your trailer door, assuming he’d follow you, which he does.
“What do we need to talk about?” You know but for some reason you want him to tell you even though it hurts when he says it.
“I was trying to be a good.” He doesn’t say anything more and you aren’t sure if you’re happy about this or not.
“Right. I was just someone you could use when Susan didn’t have the time. My apologizes for thinking we were at least friends.” The words aren’t true and you know it. “I know better now. This time around, tell me when you want to fuck and I’ll just lay face down on the nearest flat surface.”
“Jude.”
“Or, if you’d prefer, I can just sink to my knees and let you fuck my mouth.”
“Jude!” You hadn’t realized that he had been moving closer to you as you spoke and now he was standing mere inches from you.
You realize that this is the first time you’ve actually looked at him since you’ve been reunited. He has the “Tony Stark” goatee, which was always one of your favorite, looks on him. His eyes still shine like they did during Sherlock but they look tired, like it’s been awhile since he’s had a peaceful sleep. The facial hair makes him look younger but at the same time, his eyes and the slight wrinkles that litter his face make him seem older. You know you shouldn’t care because of what he did but he looks almost unhealthy.
“Would you pay attention?” You fight the smile that wants to appear because you always thought Robert looked best when he was slightly peeved. “The reason I kept saying no was because if I saw you I wouldn’t want to let you go.”
You open your mouth to say something but are cut off by Robert crashing his mouth to yours. You know you should pull away and tell him that a kiss can’t fix the fact that he purposefully blew you off but then he does this weird thing where he swirls his tongue and you lose you train of thought. You shouldn’t let him get away with the way he’s treated you but you were never good at staying mad at him.
He pulls away before you want him to and you can’t stop the whimper that escapes you when he does so. “And I probably wouldn’t have been able to control myself, which means we would have gotten in trouble and-“
You push him against the wall and cut him off by kissing him again. You know this won’t fix anything but old habits die-hard. Memories of stolen moments in trailers and closets, meals shared in private at random times of the day, looks shared during filming and interviews, and touches lasting longer then they should.
You know you should pull away but then his hand is sliding down your side and tugging your t-shirt up and before you think better of it, your arms are up and your shirt is being tossed onto a small table. His hands are at your belt buckle when you hear a knock on the door.
You pull away just enough so that you can rest your head on his shoulder. “Yes?”
“Anne needs to know if you can come back and continue the read through.”
You sigh and pull completely away from Robert. “I’ll head back over there.”
“Thank you and have you seen Mr. Downey? No one can find him.”
You smirk as you pull on your t-shirt. You guess that the crew here hasn’t heard that wherever you are chances are Robert will be with you. “I’ll bring him.”
“Thank you. If you could be there in about five minutes, that would be great.”
“Will do.” You wait until the footsteps disappear before turning to Robert, “We should go.”
He smiles as he follows you out of the trailer. “Of course my Judesie.” His arm ends up around your shoulders but you shrug him off.
You can’t help but glance at him as you notice his shoulders slump slightly. “We aren’t better.”
He nods. “I figured as much.”
“We’ll get there,” You put your hands in your pocket as the two of you walk together, “maybe.”
He doesn’t catch that last part or if he does he ignores it. You want your relationship with him to go back to what it was during Sherlock Holmes but you aren’t entirely sure on how long that will take.
“Can I help you with something?” You look up at the man sitting behind the counter.
“I’m just looking.” You smile, as you look at all the books. You always loved reading and now that you lived near a bookstore it would be an easier hobby to keep up with.
“Looking for anything in particular?” He’s smiling and you are slightly mesmerized by it.
“I’m partial to Shakespeare.” You pick up a random book and run your hand over the spine. It looks old but seems to be in good shape.
“Then is courtesy a turncoat. But it is certain I/am loved of all ladies, only you excepted: and I/would I could find in my heart that I had not a hard/heart; for, truly, I love none.”
You look up at him and can’t help it as you take a few steps closer to him. “Much Ado About Nothing” has always been one of your favorite plays. “A dear happiness to women: they would else have/been troubled with a pernicious suitor. I thank God/and my cold blood, I am of your humour for that: I/had rather hear my dog bark at a crow than a man/swear he loves me.”
“God keep your ladyship still in that mind! so some/gentleman or other shall 'scape a predestinate/scratched face.”
“Scratching could not make it worse, an 'twere such/a face as yours were.”
“Well, you are a rare parrot-teacher.”
“A bird of my tongue is better than a beast of yours.”
“I would my horse had the speed of your tongue, and/so good a continuer. But keep your way, i' God's/name; I have done.”
“You always end with a jade's trick: I know you of old.” You finish off the scene between Beatrice and Benedick and then realize that you are now leaning on the counter, just as he is. It had been awhile since you had found someone who seemed to care as much about Shakespeare as you do.
You’re about to talk when he offers you a handshake. “I’m Mark.”
You smile as you take his hand. “David.”
“-Cut!” Your hand lingers in Robert’s for more then it needs to be and you only pull away when Anne continues to talk. “Good job guys. What’s say we take a ten minute break and then come back and film the coffee scene?”
You nod as Robert says, “Sounds good.”
The two of you exchange looks before heading off to the food table.
It had been a week since you had started filming and your relationship with Robert was getting better. It wasn’t as good as it use to be but you could see it getting there eventually. The moments like the one that took place in your trailer the first day of filming hadn’t happened again. The both of you agree that the only way to get close again was to start over, not to start over completely, just going back to before everything became serious and you two were just friends. So far, everything was good.
“Would have been funny if the quotes were from “Hamlet”” Robert’s smile reaches his eyes and you find yourself smiling too.
“Knowing my luck, your character would have gotten Hamlet’s lines.” You grab a plate and start picking up random food, at this point you’re too hungry to care what you’re eating.
“Very true!” He’s more careful about what he grabs. Only grabbing foods that he knows he’ll eat. “Although, then you would be able to critique me and make me look like such an amazing actor!”
You roll your eyes but your smile stays. “Like you need my help.”
Robert stops and places a hand over his heart. “Be still my beating heart! Did my Judesie just compliment me?”
“Don’t worry, it won’t happen again.” You try to sound sarcastic but it’s hard when Robert’s smiling so much.
“You say that now.” He moves away from the table with a plate full of food. “Do you think we can finish this in,” He changes hands so he can check his watch, “eight minutes?”
You raise an eyebrow at him in a silent challenge. “I can.”
He tilts his head as his smile turns into a smirk. “Are you certain? We wouldn’t want you getting sick.”
“I don’t get sick my dear Ducky.” You say around a bite of food.
“If you say so.” He grabs a roll off your plate and takes a bite, smiling at you through out the whole thing.
“I believe that was mine.”
“Yes, it was.”
“You are ridiculous.” You take an orange slice off his plate in retaliation.
The game of stealing each other’s food goes on until some one comes to get you to tell that the break is over. Most of the food that the two of you had grabbed is gone, which amazes you. You debate about standing up but you know that if you stand he’ll hold up his plate and give you puppy dog eyes until you take his trash for him but if he stands up first, you could do that to him. Then again, if neither of you stand up, either plan will work.
“Count of three?” You glance at him and nod.
“One, two, three.” Neither one of you stand.
“Well, that was useful.” You mumble under your breath but you know it’s loud enough for him to hear you.
“You were supposed to stand up.” He looks like a child who’s been lied to and you finally give in.
You stand and extend your hand. “Give me the plate.”
He smiles as he hands you the plate then stands and follows you to the trashcan.
“If you were going to follow me why didn’t you take your plate yourself?”
He just shrugs and drapes his arm around your shoulder and this time you don’t shrug it off as the two of you head back to set.
You push open the door and the first thing you notice is that Mark isn’t at the counter like he always is. Then again, you aren’t normally here when his bookstore first opens at seven. You walk over to the counter and ring the bell.
“David!” You jump when you hear your name being called from behind you. “You’re here early!”
You try to compose yourself before turning to face him. “Yes well, I remember you saying that your coffee machine was broken so I thought I’d bring you a cup.” You hold up the mug for him to take, which he does with a smile.
“Why thank you!” He takes a sip and his smile only grows. “So, how are you?”
You just shrug and take a sip of the coffee you brought for yourself. “I’m fine.”
His smile disappears but then reappears a few seconds later. “And Rachel?”
“Keeps asking to meet you.”
He puts the mug down and turns his back to you. “Oh? Well, you’ll have to bring her here one day.”
You smile at that. You weren’t sure how Mark would react about meeting Rachel. You aren’t sure why you didn’t think Mark would be up for it but something in your gut told you that he wouldn’t like it. “Really?”
Mark faces you and there is a smile on his face but you know it isn’t his normal smile; it didn’t reach his eyes. “Of course! A friend of yours is a friend of mine!”
You look down at your feet because you feel your cheeks redden and you know he’ll make fun of you for it. “She’s more then just a friend.”
“Hmm” He grabs his mug of coffee and heads behind the counter. “Congrats.”
You think you hear something in his voice but are too busy with thinking about how your Rachel will finally get to meet Mark. “Thank you! I can’t wait for you to meet her! You’ll love her! She’s an amazing girl!”
“I’m sure.” The way he says it makes you think that he isn’t paying attention.
“She also has three heads and seven legs.” You lean over the counter so that you can watch him sort books.
“Sounds great.” He doesn’t look up and you know he isn’t paying attention.
“Yeah.” You pick up a pen that was lying on the counter and throw it at him.
The pen hits him on the back of his head and he looks up at you. “Was that necessary?”
“Yes.” You smile at him and -
“Cut!” Anne smiles as soon as the word is out of her mouth and you know that means one thing. “Okay guys, what’s say we call it a day?”
You want to say something but don’t because a pen hits you on the cheek. You turn your attention back to Robert. “Can I help you?”
Robert just looks up at you with eyes that fake innocence. “What?”
“Why did you throw the pen at me?” You run a hand through your hair, trying to look mad.
His eyes soften even more, making him look hurt. “I would never do anything like that! I love my Judesie too much to hurt him.”
You want to make a comment about how he’s already hurt you but your relationship with him is finally getting better and you don’t want to jeopardize it now.
“Robert, Jude.” You look away from Robert to see Anne walking towards both of you. “Great job today.”
You smile at her while Robert thanks her. “So, tomorrow, we’re going to be filming the scene where Mark tells David the truth about Rachel, so be ready to fight.”
“With pleasure.” You say as you playfully punch Robert on the arm.
“Well okay then I shall see you boys in the morning.” Anne nods before turning to leave.
You look over at Robert. “Well, goodnight love.”
You head over to your trailer because you aren’t sure if you should be driving home with only 4 hours of sleep and a 32 hour work day. One of your least favorite parts of this job was the lack of sleep while filming and then the long hours you have to work.
You’re just about to open your door when you realize that Robert was following you. “Can I help you?”
Robert just shrugs and opens the door for you. “Sleep over. You always slept better when I was next to you.”
You hate to admit it but you know he’s right. You walk through the open door and look back to him. You should tell him good night and close the door. You should but, “Are you coming?”
