You don’t want to pick on him but you’re afraid that if you don’t then he won’t notice you, and you need him to notice you. You need him to notice how your arm lingers on his shoulders after the teacher leaves, or how you slide your hand down his arm before picking him up. You need him to see how you really feel. You can’t tell him though because you’re scared he’ll say no or laugh at you. You care about him and you need him to see that. You’d tell him if you weren’t afraid of losing your social rankings. You can’t live your life being treated like a nobody. You’ve been treated that way before, which is why you’ve spent your high school career trying to be the guy everyone else wants to be. You know you like him and you know you want to be with him, but you can’t tell him. All you can do is hope that one day he’ll figure out that you like him and he’ll forgive you. Until then, you just leave your arm around his shoulders longer than you should and slide your hand down his arm before picking him up.
