A/N: Um, this is a companion piece to a story that I'm posting later.

You were friends once. Back when you were three. You and Kurt use to be inseparable. You would do everything together. The last time the two of you played together was the day before your dad left. Kurt had come over to spend the day with you, which had become a common occurrence. Your dad had been drunk, and as soon as you and Kurt had come out of your room, holding hands, your dad had exploded. He just started yelling at the two of you, saying that boys don’t hold hands with each other, and there was none of that in this house. You had shrunk back to a corner, like you had always done when he started yelling. You were just glad that you weren’t alone. Kurt held your hand the whole time, and he let you cry on his shoulder while your dad continued to yell. After awhile he had stopped yelling, and you had thought that he would leave. Instead, he grabbed you by the arm and yanked you away from Kurt. You screamed, extending your hand, trying to grab onto Kurt again. Your dad had other plans though. He started to hit you, all while telling you that boys are not suppose to be that close with other boys. Your dad was still at it when your mother came home from work an hour later. She quickly told Kurt to go home, and tried to grab you out of your dad’s grip. He dropped you the few feet onto the ground and then started hitting your mom. You couldn’t do anything to stop him, all you could do was curl up into a ball and cry, longing to have Kurt hold your hand again. He beats her for a while, until he gives up, and goes to bed. You refuse to move, while she goes to lay with him, no doubt to tell him she loves him.

The next day, your dad is gone, and your mother is yelling at you. She’s telling you that if you hadn’t been with Kurt, then your dad would still be here. She told you that it was your entire fault. You just sit there and take it. A few hours later, Kurt comes by your house, and asks if you are okay. You tell him to leave you alone, that you can’t be seen with a queer, and slam the door in his face. You can hear him crying, and you can’t help but cry too. You cry for the rest of the day, knowing that you had lost the only person that would ever really matter to you.
