Over the holidays, our family went to Peter Piper Pizza, a place with skee ball and games and -- well, pizza, of course. Adam, my younger brother, saved up enough tickets to buy a whoopie cushion for Auddie. It was a very sweet gesture, but the moment that Bryce squeezed the air out of it, Auddie shrieked and tried to hide. We thought the flagellant noise may have just startled him, but after repeating the trick, he shrieked again and held his arms out for me.
Days later, at home, I brought the whoopie cushion out again and let the air out quietly. Auddie screamed bloody murder and tried to hide. He wouldn't even let the deflated toy near him.
And today, at Bryce's sister's house, I received a round, pink gift. When Auddie saw it, he screamed and held on to me.
It was then that I realized it was in the shape of a whoopie cushion.
Weird. Seriously weird.
