I saw "An Inconvenient Truth" this weekend. For those of you that don't know what that is...Al Gore put together a movie warning us about the dangers of global warming. He's apparently been studying it since he was in college. One of his priorities, if elected president, was to address the issue of global warming and get things moving, finally! (Democrat alert: Makes me really sad about President Bush right now, but moving on...) It was some of the most terrifying things I've ever seen. It makes me never want to drive a car again. Let's put it this way, our grandkids may be living out all the things that happen in "The Day After Tomorrow". Our grandchildren!!! Polar bears may become extinct in our lifetime. Water levels will rise and coastal lines will have to be redrawn. When our grandchildren study geography, the coast and the outline of Greenland will be drastically different. And perhaps the worst part is that America does about twice the damage of any other civilized nation. Our cars are behind the times. Did you know that cars in Europe and Japan get 30-40 miles per gallon? Cars that efficient exist, yet we aren't driving them? And our failure to provide reliable, enticing public transportation is a disservice to the nation. There is a website that goes along with the movie, www.climatecrisis.net. Have a drink first, and then go check it out.
