So Long, From Jiminy Cricket...In Spectromagic!

So my visit with Sissa was great! She arrived on Monday, and I was there waiting for her at the airport. We relaxed Monday afternoon. I showed her the school where I work, my small town of Alpharetta, took her by to see my parents, and had dinner at Wendy's. We then had "Mickey Mouse" ice cream sundaes and watched a chick flick.

We were up bright and early on Tuesday and off to the Georgia Aquarium. We took lots of pictures of the fishies. Sissa and I hit it just right and got to watch them feed the beluga whales, which was neat to see. She was also properly introduced to Ralph and Norton, our two whale sharks. They are just so mezmorizing. We sat and watched them for about a half hour. After the aquarium, we got lunch at Mary Mac's Tea Room, where we had some good ol' fashioned fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, and peach cobbler. Mmmmmm....We visited Fernbank, a science museum (just ok) and then ended the night with my buddies playing trivia at a local bar and grill.

On Wednesday, we spent the day at Stone Mountain. And it is literally just that, a huge granite mountain just east of the city. They have a carving on it that depicts some of the more important southern Civil War generals. We took a train ride around the base of the mountain, and then went to the top of the mountain on a cable car. We also explored this area called Crossroads (a little shopping and eating area) and an old southern plantation home. Then it was time to sit on the lawn in front of the mountain and enjoy their nighttime lazer show. We kept looking at each other and saying how it reminded us of Disney. They even use an Epcot area music song in the lazer show.

Then, sadly, she went home on Thursday. We had a great visit. It really felt like old times. It is amazing how you can go without seeing someone for several months and yet pick up right where you left off. It was a great way to spend my Spring Break. I hope Sissa posts some of her pictures from our visit. She only took about 250 of them!
