I had a magical moment today. A student came in for an early morning study session. He was early, so I asked him to study a bit and wait a few minutes. He then started to ask me about Space Mountain. He wanted to know what it looked like inside. He was very interested in everything. I asked him why. Turns out he plays Roller Coaster Tycoon too and wants to make a Space Mountain replica on his computer. Before I know it, I'm drawing the blueprint for Space Mountain on my board. He is getting totally into it. I explained how the queue is in a building outside the coaster, and that you go under the railroad. He was enthralled. Then I'm telling him how the sides are symmetric (one of our math words!). I explained to him the strobe tunnel and re-entry. I drew where the queue is, and how it goes under the coaster and takes people towards the back of the building. It was great to be able to share that knowlege with someone who cares. He was so excited to be getting the info from an "inside source". It made me smile!
And in other news, Sissa is coming on Monday! I miss her and can't wait to see her! I've planned a ton of fun things, probably more than we might have energy for. But as I see it, I rather be prepared and have lots planned than stare at the walls trying to think of something to do. I love playing hostess!
