Singapore v China

Sep 06, 2006 22:45

I was at the National Stadium tonight with WH to catch the anticipated return leg of the Asian Cup 2007 Qualifying round preliminary match between Singapore and China.

The match got off to a slow start. The China players like to fall down after a tackle from their Singapore counterpart.

Singapore attack was almost non-existance. The China attack wasn't potent and it seems like they were affected by the weather. They keep going to the touchline for drinks to quench their thirst.

It was HT and the scoreline remain scoreless.

The tempo in second half was upped but the poor finishing by the China strikers let them down time and again.

Singapore players were clearly tired by the 70 minute and it wasn't till the 1 minute of injury time that we saw some goalmouth action. The China defenders marshall their defence superbly and denied the host 3 points. By the 2 minute of injury time, China was down to 10 men. Thier player was sent off for a second yellow.

The Kallang crowd roared with appulase but it was a case of too little too late to inflict any damage in terms of numerical.

I won my ticket and dinner due to some bets.

It's HT and Tiger time

There were no goals. But why were the people standing up??

This China fan (in white shirt carrying the China flag and waving proudly at Singaporeans.
Clearly, this upset our people and had us standing up in disapproval.

FT Score: Singapore 0 China 0

Thank you National Stadium. You gave me lots of happy memories and will always be etched in my heart.
