I saw this on a documentary (either NatGeo or PBS) & it's been haunting me. A photographer named Chris Jordan is documenting mass consumerism & its effects on nature. He captured these images on the islands around Midway in the Pacific.
In the past I've always been careful to recycle large plastic things, but sometimes throw bottle caps & smaller bits in the trash. Never again. I can recognise a lot of these objects that these baby birds' parents accidentally fed them. Lighters, ball-point pens, disposable razor handles, lip gloss tubes...
