SO. Geoff and I went to go look at this apartment tonight. It's about 2 streets over from where we live now, so it's still in an awesome area (and even closer to the grocery store now!) on a really quiet street b/c no one uses it as a cut-through. It's a small place, but it's not that expensive. After we saw it, we went and had pizza for dinner, then called them and told them we'd take it! So we came back and gave 1st month's rent. She's going to write up a lease and then send it to us. I'm pumped!!! It's one less thing I need to worry about.
So, the place is a 2 bedroom, with one bedroom bigger than the other one. It's still smaller than my current bedroom, but I'm just going to have to get rid of some stuff... I think I'm going to have to sell my turntables (I just don't use them anymore, and don't have space in my new place!). It's on the 3rd floor of an old house, so it'll be a lot of stairs everyday, but that'll keep me in shape! Ha. the living room and kitchen are tiny, but we can still fit a loveseat and our TV and a small 2 person kitchen table. I am going to have to get rid of some of my stuff, definitely. 1 tandem parking spot is included in the rent, as is heat and hot water. The couple that live on the first 2 floors are retired and are really nice. They apparently travel to Vermont every so often, so that's pretty cool. I think we connected because we both drive Subaru's. Ha. Anyway... there is a washer and dryer IN OUR APARTMENT. that is KEY. it's only $1400/month. Small, yes, but the perks are just too good and it's not that expensive. Moving in up to the 3rd floor will be a total bitch, but since we're starting our lease Feb 1st and don't have to be out of our current apartment until the end of Feb., we can move slowly over time and still have time to get rid of stuff. I'm sure I'll rent a van or truck once or twice to move stuff. It's worth it though to not have to move all in one day. While tandem parking is kind of annoying, I have a good feeling I'll be the first to leave in the morning and the last to come home usually. OH, and they said the tiny back yard area is basically ours, so that'll be nice in the summer!
YAY! I hate apartment hunting, so I'm glad I got it all done in basically 2 days (I found the post on craigslist yesterday!).
