It's a new internet program put out by the Music Genome Project that essentially helps you find more of the kind of music you love... go to http://pandora.com and type in a favorite song or artist... it'll search its crazy-large database of music and play a song by the artist (or the particular song mentioned) and tell you its musical qualities: instrumental, melodic guitar, mild rhythmic syncopation, major key tonality... all sorts of things.
THEN it starts to play other songs with similar qualities, thus introducing you to more music and musicians. You can have all sorts of "radio stations" based on an given artist or song's style. The music is all legal b/c you can't intentionally replay the songs (though if you put them on your favorites, your more likely to hear them again) or download them, but it's a great way to get introduced to new music or explore a certain style.You can sign up for a free account and create a whole bunch of "radio stations" based on a musician or specific song -- when the window's open, it'll just stream unlimited songs that share similar attributes and it'll keep a list of what it's played. You can create favorites page, and it "learns" as it goes what you like best and plays more of it.
