I figured I might as well post something to this journal, so here is the only semi-serious fanfic I've ever published...and of course, it's a 100-word Harry Potter drabble. All right, you can all stop laughing at me. It was originally cross-posted to
hp100 and written for the "Hidden Talents" challenge. (The rules, in a nutshell, were that an HP character had to manifest a previously hidden talent. Duh.) This version has a few minor changes in verb tense. Even I don't think it's any good--the writing is really clunky in parts, because I struggled to keep this at one hundred words--but hey, at least I got off my ass and wrote something.

"Darling, this is delicious," said Tom, drinking his cabbage soup. "Simply phenomenal! I never knew you were such a talented cook."
Every supper, when he first tasted his soup, Tom grimaced and complained that he missed the manor chef. But after a few spoonfuls, his dark eyes clouded over, and he started to rave over the meal--every bite is better than the last!--until he was kissing her, soup forgotten, and running his fingers through her lank, dull hair.
"Thanks, Tom." Merope smiled, basking in the illusion's warmth. No one had ever called her talented before. "Want more soup?"
