After going back to the vet with Naomi and talking to them further, we've decided against surgery, since it would be expensive, painful, and have a low chance of success. We're going to let Abi continue with a normal life for as long as she has it, but when the tumor spreads to other organs and causes them to fail, or grows too large, we'll have her put to sleep.
An unhappy choice, but hopefully one that maximizes happiness for Abi (and us), if not her lifespan.
In other news, I had a nightmare last night about trying to fly a dragon through thick fog and needing to write a navigation app on the fly for my dragon-mounted Android. Methinks I've been reading too much of Naomi Novik's Temeraire series...
