(The sun is FINALLY shining here after a month and a half of rain... but the trade off? It's damned cold! Below 45F! I guess I can live with it for a bit of sunshine in my life. Spring will be here soon enough! ~2 months... *squees*)

It hasn't been as awful as it could have been, because I do have means to get online. But when I installed the drive and it didn't spin up? Yeah, that was a downer. I still have some things to try this morning, so we'll see.

Thanks! It's a 5 year old dell that has served me faithfully and I'm not ready to give it up. Plus, yanno. No money.

I use Mozy for offsite backup. I'll let you know how the retrieval goes.

Huh. I use Mozy, too. I think I had some issues with a couple of music files, but my other files restored just fine. Have you tried using an older version?

I haven't tried the mozy backup yet, so hopefully it will work well. I have a big fat USB drive I was using for onsite backup, and some of the files (my ebooks and my word processor files) were apparently corrupted at transfer time. /facepalm/ I don't know whether to blame the usb stick or the failing hard drive for that.

I'm going to try the onsite backup again once I get the new hard drive installed and working (please please universe!)

No I have a loaned machine for my freckle fixes. Mostly it just means I'm worried about getting my lappy up and running, and getting the stories I've written but not posted back on my new hard drive.

Oh, I hate hate hate when my hard drive crashes. Computer issues tick me off, so yes, hopefully you can get it to work and that everything is fine. At least everything else is good :)
