So, as I said on facebook, Ally is crawling now, officially. She started this a few days ago, very tentatively. She would take a few "steps," then fall on her tummy. Then on Sunday she got markedly better, suddenly able to crawl all the way across the room without falling at all. Then turning around and crawling back, like she did in the video. Amazing how fast it happened...it was like a lightbulb clicked for her or something.
Also she is now trying to stand up more often. She hasn't figured out how to pull herself to standing, but she loves trying to use her hands to push herself up to a more standing position. I am sure she will get it soon. (Gotta lower the crib again, weee).
I think related to all this learning, she hasn't been napping much lately. Wanting instead to stay awake to learn more. The last several days she has really only taken one nap. *Mostly* it hasn't made her too cranky, but as I write this she is fighting sleep and being quite cranky about it. Hopefully this doesn't last.
She is rapidly outgrowing her car seat. She is (as far as I know) nowhere near the weight limit, but her head is coming quite close to being too close to the top of the carseat. Went window shopping the other day for a new one. Thinking if she is going to be big enough soon we may just end up getting a forward facing instead of a convertible, as I think she is really close and it would save a bit of money. Not sure though. May ask the doc what he thinks when we go in for our 9mo appointment next week.
Ally loooooves solids. She is so cute. She usually eats it down like it is candy and wants more. Trying to add more textures and such lately, as she is getting good at using her jaws and such to try and mash things up. She loves these banana puff things we got as finger foods. Getting very good at picking them up and eating them. Also whenever we are eating, she wants to eat whatever we are having, which is adorable. (She is pretty good at it, too). I hope she never develops my picky tendencies.
In unrelated news, my Gramps is not doing well. He has cancer, and had been getting treatments, but they have decided to stop those and call in Hospice, so they think it won't be long now before he passes. I am glad he got to meet Ally, but I am very emotional about it at the moment. Apparently he has come to terms with things, but I know my aunt and uncles haven't, nor my Nanny (grandmother). Dad knew this was coming, but wanted him to keep fighting it more, so I think he is having trouble as well. So yeah.
