Been meaning to write up a post for forever now but just haven't remembered when I have had time, until now. At the moment Paul and Ally and Fiyero are off at the dog park enjoying the nice weather and I am enjoying some rare "just me" time.
Love love *loving* being a stay at home mom. It is the greatest. For the first week or so of it I tried sleeping in, but I have since decided that even if Ally goes back to sleep it is easier on myself just to stay awake when Kelly leaves for work around 8. Usually Ally and I chill in the bed. Sometimes she will lay in her playpen on the play mat thingy staring at the tweeting flashing moving bird thing for a while, but usually she gets bored with it after a bit. Sometimes we will chill upstairs with her in her swing (so glad we got one, she loves it most of the time).
She got bronchiolitis which lead to 2 ear infections a few weeks ago. That was not fun. Thankfully she doesn't seem to have her daddy's allergy to amoxicillin. She seems to be fully well now though. Plus, she loved taking the "pink medicine" as I used to call it when I was a kid. I hope she doesn't get them as often as I did. (Breastfeeding is supposed to help with it, but who knows).
We are currently undertaking to get Ally to sleep in her crib at night. It isn't going very well so far. As long as I am standing beside the crib she is fine, but as soon as I walk away she will cry or grunt in disapproval. Don't know how to improve things. Trying to start a routine of bath, then a story, then crib for bed, but don't know if it will help. Doc also said we should try to cut out one of our night time feedings, but she doesn't seem pleased about that either.
She is so alert and bright eyed these days. It seemed to happen all of a sudden, like one day she would mostly look right through you then the next she was tracking everything with her eyes and turning toward whoever was speaking and really *looking* at things. It's so cool. Started bringing out more toys now that she is looking at things more intently and actually grabbing at things. She loves to put everything in her mouth, of course. (Which, thankfully, means less time needing the paci).
She has successfully rolled over from front to back and back to front several times now, which is nifty. She is working on sitting up. She can usually do it for several seconds at a time unassisted, but then she will usually either lean so far forward her butt comes up or throw herself backward (where I catch her, of course :-p). She will be doing it on her own very soon though, I think. She has very nice ab strength now. She even managed to sit up from a mostly incline position with her abs the other night. I was shocked, hehe. Hasn't repeated that one yet, though.
We are finally in 3-6 month clothing, barely. Most of it she is long enough for, but a lot of it is still too big around. Also, newborn and 0-3 clothing didn't really seem to vary much in size from thing to thing, but 3-6 has varied *hugely* so far. Some things are almost too small and some are very comical. Her one pair of jeans goes up to her armpits and is so baggy it looks like clown pants.
Lately I have been having trouble falling asleep at night, which is less fun for sure. Super tired, but can't seem to get my eyes to want to close most of the time. Not even Ally's fault at all. Guess sleep just isn't for moms. :)
OK, time to feed the kiddo. (Oh! Almost forgot to say this. Breastfeeding never hurt at the beginning...but lately she like to pinch me really hard on the breasts with her hands/fingernails while eating. Aaaargh!!)
