Been eventful since I last posted. Still having contractions at my NSTs. Still not *really* feeling them, although I think I may have figured out what they sometimes feel like, maybe. Still not sure. Today, though, was very unpleasant. Last night for a few hours I was having cramps and lower back pain, then woke up ok, but only for about half an hour before it started up again. Continued until about 3pm. Then started up again about 6. Ugh. Doctor isn't concerned (had my normal appointment today) and I am not dilated yet, but it is *very* uncomfortable. And can't take any medicine that would help (can only really take tylenol, and that won't do anything). Heating pad is my friend, as was the bath I took earlier. Seriously seriously not liking this though. Hope it goes away, can't take 5 weeks of this.
In funny news...at my NSTs they ask a bunch of questions each time, about various things. Pain and such. The questions vary a bit each time (like I guess the computer tells them which random choices to ask that time). This past time the lady is asking them all, and then sort of casually says "so is he beating you up?" And I, being a sillyhead, thought she meant the baby (the nurses don't know the gender generally as they don't usually ask). So I say, "eh, a little bit, off and on." ...Yeah, she was talking about Paul, not the baby. Figured this out a few questions later as the questions got weirder and weirder. Corrected her, and we all had a good laugh, but good grief did I feel stupid!
This weekend was eventful. Saturday we went back to the beach to try and get Paul up on stage at the Wheel of Fortune auditions again (we had gone the previous Saturday with no luck, can't remember if I said that or not.) Brought mom this time too. No dice for either of them. Came home and decided to put together the crib (cause we got a bassinett for the bedroom), stroller, and swing. Crib, the last of 3 three that we did, was lovely and uneventful. Unfortunately the other 2 were not. The stroller wasn't exactly broken, but it certainly wasn't what we expected. The store model had had little like, switches? almost to hold the car seat in place when it was in it (travel system thingy). The actual one we got had this elastic strap thingy where you pull it and slide the plastic tab in place on the car seat. Only the elastic wasn't long enough, so it wouldn't go. Tried lots of times. No luck. So that was frustrating. Then put together the swing only to find out that it had 2 metal pieces that were supposed to be identical but weren't, so it was all wonky and off-centered and not ok. Blah.
Sunday afternoon we decided to take back the swing and bring in the stroller to ask about it. The store closest to us didn't have any more of those swings in stock, so we went to a further away one. They exchanged it, no problem, yay, but told us about the stroller - all the ones of that brand now had the elastic part and yeah, even the store lady agreed it wasn't safe and couldn't work easily. We even tried the floor model of a different line of that brand's strollers and couldn't get it to work either. I hope there is a recall, frankly. But we hadn't brough the whole thing, so we couldn't exchange it there.
Go home, rest a bit, then go back out to exchange the stroller. Decide on a different one that we had been deciding between anyway. Had gotten a coupon since then that made it about the same price as the one we had bought. Yay and easy, right? Nope. We had bought the stroller (and the swing) on a promotion where if you spent 200 dollars on that type of thing you got a 50 dollar gift card. So they were only going to give us 50 dollars less than the price of the stroller back toward the other one. I understand this policy for returns, I really do, otherwise people could come in and return stuff and keep the 50 bucks, sure. But it doesn't make any sense to me for exchanges. So I start crying in the store and go off about how we are only exchanging it because the other one isn't even safe to use and then run off and hide in the halloween costumes. Thankfully Paul *isn'* riddled with pregnancy hormones and got something figured out whereby we got it all for the amounts we *should* have. But ugh, such a frustrating weekend.
OK, time to turn off the heating pad (sadly) and attempt to sleep. Goodnight internet world.
