I find it amusing that Brendan has watched the first disc of Fellowship of the Ring a million times, loves Gollum, and has made pretend-friends with the Ringwraiths, yet he deems Finding Nemo too scary. :-)
Heh. Now he came up to me and told me to ask "what have I got in my pocket?" and he said, "A ring." Guess he wins! It's good to learn these life lessons early.
Then again, LoTR would be very different with Brendan participating-- The other day, I whispered, "Shire... Bagginsssss!" and he replied, perfectly normally, "Hi, Ringwraith." I whispered, in my creepiest Nazgul voice, "Have you got the One Ring?" and he said, "Um, yes." So I whispered, "Hannnnd it over!" and held out my (skeletal) hand-- he pantomimed putting a ring into it. "Thankssssss... Do you want to come to Mordor with me and work for the Dark Lord?" He replied, "Yeah." The end. :-)
Well, Finding Nemo is scary in a different way. The first time I saw it, I sat there horrified as, within the first five minutes, Nemo's mother and all of his unborn siblings are devoured by a baracuda. That's got to be unsettling for a youngster.
Damn, I know!!!!! I was horrified at that, too, and so was Brendan. Then when that diver showed up behind Nemo he screamed. Screw that, this is NOT a kids' movie! Bring on the Nazghul.
