OMG! Text lingo appearing in schoolwork. reading this article made me wonder what the hell is wrong with kids today. granted, i don't Capitalise, but i have a valid reason which, with explanation, either makes sense to people who are grammatically open-minded or not make a difference to them, at which i will simply ask those people to try to not care or change it for them. but for teenagers to be lazy because of convenience makes me sad and worried.
i was taught that its best to complete your words, use proper syntax and grammar and spelling, and that in doing all this, you are both better understood and avoid misunderstandings. i'm glad that there are teachers who are being strict about these issues, but when i was a teenager, i had teachers who were hard because i used British, Canadian, and American English, not strictly American, and would rather have a lower grade then change it in the final draft because what i wrote was understood and was proper, and the country i'm in makes no difference. the fact that all of my English teachers save one were strictest on this bothered me, because much of what i used they were taught, before the differences between American and British English was choice and not standard, and they are only going on about American standards is because the Board of Education requires it of them.
that, all of it, every issues names, are all lumped into one of my biggest pet peeves.
