My Review of.... RENT - The Movie

Nov 25, 2005 14:12

I have to give RENT an A. I’ve seen the Broadway show numerous times and the Broadway show is amazing and I wanted this movie to be just as good, if not better. The movie definitely succeeded. I was so surprised the movie was PG-13 considering how gritty it was: drug usage, nudity, cursing. It inspired me, like the show does. The movie is completely amazing. The last ten minutes are absolutely haunting, and are still in my mind. What can I say? I cried. Hard. It is a beautiful movie, very well done. I can't begin to describe how moving this movie truly is. The acting is incredible; you actually feel your heart breaking. I can guarantee that anyone who sees this movie will come out of it with even at least the smallest touch of extra confidence and hope. And I leave you with these words of wisdom from Jonathan Larson (the writer of RENT): "The heart may freeze, or it can burn, the pain will ease, if I can learn. There is no future, there is no past, I live each moment as my last."
