Wow, LJ tells me it's been since October since my last post. Good lord! I've been here all that time, reading friends' entries, but just haven't been motivated to post any of my own.
So of course, there's much to update that will never get recorded. But today was a fun day that I don't want to forget. James will turn 11 on Thursday. I'm having a heart attack even thinking about that. He asked for Rock Band for his birthday, and once i read about it, I thought it sounded like great fun. It's been in my closet for a while now, but I realized this morning that we have a very busy weekend ahead of us next weekend and a day off from school tomorrow. So it made sense that we gave it to him today instead of on his birthday - if we'd waited, he'd have almost have had to wait three days after his birthday to really play with it.
He was thrilled of course to get it, and we all sat in the basement while he did the drum tutorial. It was obviously very fun.
So he got it at about 1:30, and here it is 10 hours later and he and I just forced ourselves to stop our band's tour for the night. Ends up that he's a pretty good guitar player and I'm a mean drummer! ;-) I haven't tried the guitar or vocals yet. The guitar looks hard, and my vocals are not likely to be good, so I'm content on the drums. Not only is it really fun, but it's neat to be having that type of fun with James. He used to ask me to play video games with him before, but so many of the games he plays are not easy for me to play and we didn't used to really have that much fun doing it. But this? Having this kind of fun with my almost 11--gasp-- year old son? Priceless!
