Labor Day weekend was nice. We spent a lot of time with Dave's family. A LOT. That's ok, mind you. It's just we spent more than I thought we would because my family backed out of the Labor Day get together we were supposed to have. Mom had to work all weekend and there was this new girl and she had to train her. Needless to say, she would've been too exhausted. I did see my brother, Michael, at a hair salon place in the mall. At least I got to see him about 10 minutes, or I wouldn't have seen him at all since we weren't having the cookout that was planned. As it is, I didn't get to see my neice and nephews. Even though my mom and brother and his family live only an hour away (in my home town), I don't see them very often. Busy lives, I suppose. It can be pretty frustrating, though I understand.
And speaking of the mall, Columbus, IN now has it's very own first Indian restaurant. Yes, it's in the mall and it is a bit unorganized, but I hope that'll come with time. The food was pretty good. Still not the best I have had, but A LOT better than expected. Plus, they also have an Indian grocery in town. Finally, Columbus may be moving up in the times. Seriously, the biggest moneymaker in C-bus is a factory where it seems nearly half the employees are Indian. Why did it take so long to get ONE Indian restaurant? It's Columbus, that's why.
We are supposed to go camping at Shades State Park (Marshall, IN) this coming weekend. The temp is supposed to be great, however there is a 40% chance of T-storms all that weekend. Hmmmmm.....I don't know which I would prefer. I guess I'd rather have the rain than the heat? Actually, I really don't know. I like rain, but if there is no escape and all your stuff gets wet, you'll never be dry and you'll freeze at night.
I got my scrub uniforms last week, but my stupid Birkenstock shoes I ordered for school are on backorder. And when I say backorder, I'm not kidding. There is NOWHERE in the country right now that has the particular shoe, in a particular color and size, for me. I called at least 10 different states and checked out about 10 online stores and evidiently the main Birk corporate headquarters is waiting for the shipment to get in from Germany. They estimate, at the earliest, the end of Oct. So, I guess I'll have to go with a different shoe because I can't wait that long. Yes, I checked ebay and other auctions as well. Alas, no use crying over spilled milk.
We're taking a trip to see dad over Sept 22nd weekend. His birthday is the 17th. He'll be the BIG 7-0! Wow, how time flies. I can remember his 50th birthday celebration. Geeesh, how old am I?! Anyway, we can't go horseback riding on the farm during our stay because Aunt Ginny was having catarct surgery and, if all goes well with that, a cornea transplant. So no bouncing up and down for her on a horse for another year. At least we get to take our guns for some shootting. Speaking of dad, something strange and kinda exciting: There is this elderly woman who has been helping my grandma for years. She comes over and does dishes and cleans the trailer, etc. Well, her apartment door is right next to dad's apartment. They've been buddy-buddies for some time, as they are both alone and are neighbors. Never thought anything of it until we visited a while ago and Dave pointed out to me that he thought this lady was smitten with dad. Unfortunately, dad is clueless to many things, including emotion, and I hoped that she wasn't getting her hopes up. But lately I have heard that they've been spending a lot of time together, morseo than they used to. Anyway, I knew dad had been planning a trip to Memphis this month but I found out last week that he plans on taking her with him! Now I have no idea what's going on in their minds. She could be having a crush on him, but I still think that dad might just want a friend to go with him (he would've gone alone otherwise=no fun). I dunno but dad and mom had been separated for some time (7 years?) and about 6 months ago dad FINALLY filed for divorce. I never knew what made him do that all of the sudden. He never cared about it before and always just seemed passive. I wonder if this lady could be part of the reason?? It'll be interesting to see how the plot unfolds......
