This post will probably take me all day to complete due to William's schedule...But I figure its long over due and that I would make the effort...
The end of pregnancy wasn't so fun...Being a giant swollen whale of a person just isn't my idea of a good time...Getting around and sleeping got pretty difficult...Throwing out my back pretty much sucked...And I got so swollen in my feet/ankles I had to buy new shoes...But all in all I'd say it was worth it...
William was born on 4/11/2009 at 3:37am via c-section...In my last week my blood pressure became an issue...If he didn't come out on his own I was going to be induced on 4/14...But with my blood pressure being so high, my doc decided to start the induction on 4/10...So we checked into St. Luke's downtown at 7am and they started me up on pitocin to get the show on the road...Dialating for me took forever!!! I wasn't ready to start pushing until like 11pm...Of course, prior to that the contractions started getting to me, and I'm not a martyr, so I got an epidural...Which was awesome...Worked like a charm...
During the day
stauquin and Nelson came to visit...It was nice to see them even though I was seriously out of it (this was before I got the epidural, so I wasn't doing so hot)...Later in the day
bec29 and AJ came by and stayed until William was born...
So around 11pm they decide its time for me to start pushing...Which wasn't working out so well...Apparently it wasn't his head that I was having issues with, it was his shoulders...Plus they think his head was resting on his umbilical cord, because when I had contractions, his heart rate would go down...So our doc then tried to deliver with forceps, but that wasn't working either...That's when they decided to go with the c-section...
The c-section was weird...I was pretty tired and out of it...But it didn't hurt and it didn't bother me at all that he didn't make it out the old fashioned way...I was just so happy to see him...
I stayed in the hospital for 4 days...He was jaundiced so he needed some time under the special lights and I needed some time to recover from the surgery...When we finally got to leave, I was seriously ready!!!
Life with tiny man is going well so far...For the most part...He has fussy periods and times where he cries and I have no idea what he wants, but its not too often...Usually, when he cries, its with purpose...The car is a magical place for him...Car rides = nap!!! So we've taken to driving him around when we're ready for bed to ensure we'll get some sleep...I'm starting to figure out his schedule a bit better and have managed to get out of the house a few times which has been really nice...
The pugs are handling the new addition very well...They're very interested in him and have been very sweet to him, so that's a huge relief...
evwan has been amazing...He's such a good dad!!! He's always there to help us out when he's home...And has even taken over when William is fussy in the middle of the night so I can get some sleep even though he has to go to work...I'm very lucky to have him...
I think he's starting to stir so I'm off to check on him...
