I've gone back two weeks from where I was supposed to be originally, but I figured it was better to warm up to the 8 miles than to jump right in for 10 miles, especially given the last long walk I had was 7 miles. 8 miles was both easier and harder than I thought it would be. Easier because it as just 2 hour-long walks, because the machines only let you do 60 minutes at a time. Harder because after a week of being done after an hour, 2 hours just seemed impossible at the beginning. But that was mainly a mental block. I can do 8 miles, and I can likely do 10 or 13. It just requires the right mindset. Whee!
