I still love you. The thesis and I were just friends. You know you're my life, my world, my only. Well, except for the day job and the fiction and the husband and the cats...
Things that are happening:
1) Thesis defense is scheduled. Committee and advisor are optimistic about result.
2)
Bull Spec #3 is out! With my awesome story "You're Almost Here"*. You can download for free
here but why not throw $3 Sam's way to support the magazine and Yours Truly as well?
3) Threw birthday party for Richard. Cannot say enough nice things about
Crabtree Tavern, which hosted the event. Amazing people, wonderful food. Great drinks. They're located out behind Crabtree Mall. If you're local, try them out. Tell the bartender you want to sample the drink called "The Melinda" (also known as the "Italian Princess").
4) Work is going awesome except when it sucks.
5) Going to Ohio for World Fantasy this Thursday. Also going to
Mark Van Name's
reading at
The Regulator Bookshop in Durham TOMORROW at 7:00pm.
Mark will be reading from his new novel Children No More, and he's donating all his proceeds from the book to
Falling Whistles, an organization that rehabilitates child soldiers and war-affected children. The name comes from the child soldiers who are sent into battle armed with only a whistle. Mark speaks eloquently on this subject, and this is a great opportunity to hear him talk about it.
6) Have not made a trip to Missouri in months. Think family may have forgotten what I look like.
That's me. What's up with everybody else?
*If I do say so myself.
