I've got free wireless access today, so I'm taking advantage of it.
The flight was long but manageable, with plenty of movies to keep me occupied and a few nice
people to chat with when the urge struck. I had delays in Melbourne and New Zealand, but not
enough to stress about. The talking toilets at Auckland provided an unexpected moment of amusement, and there were no safety issues to speak of, at any of the airports, which was a relief.
Landed 11:00ish LA time, but about 4:30 am body time. I was pretty tired by the time I hit Hollywood, so I had a nap, prettied up and then headed off to my evening at the Magic Castle. I had a blast! Saw five magic shows, including the Pendragons who are considered a pair of the best illusionists in the world (front row seat!), I got called up to assist in two of the shows, a very kind member of the Magic Club gave me an access pass if we ever come to LA again, and I got a magic wand for Josh! A nice meal and lots of lovely people who were very friendly.Only one person picked my accent as Australian - at least ten other people thought I was English! Wonder what I'm doing wrong? *grin*
This morning I'm going to walk around Hollywood before being transferred to Anaheim for the conference. I had no idea about the reality of the expanse of "LA" - It's going to take me an hour and a half to transfer from here to there. The mind boggles. (And the jetlag doesn't help.)
I'm not sure if I'll have another chance to update before I head home - there's no wifi at the con and the computer lab is small... So I might "see" you all in a week or so.
