Stupid meat puppet!!!
I've managed to mislay my USB thumb drive, the one with my running to-do-list, my novels, my passwords and the last week's worth of writing fiddles. Why the hell didn't I back up my files to the main drive? And where the hell did I put it down or have it fall out of my bag? Very unhappy and off to change my passwords - yes, they are password-protected, but still...
update: all isn't totally lost. I had saved the major rewrite for chapter 16 as a separate file and I've just found it. In the meantime, I realised I hadn't set up the major changes enough, so I'm currently rewriting chapter 15 to set them up and bring in something I'd forgotten. What I'd written for 16 will be used in the future, so I'm glad I've found it, but it wouldn't have been a total disaster if I hadn't tracked the file down.
