"It always hurts to be honest with the one you love"
I always thought that this sentence meant that being honest with your loved one means that the truth would hurt them.
But I have come to realise that instead, it means that the truth would kill oneself , as if saying the words to your loved one makes them that much more concrete to you, as the words come out from one's very own mouth. And you hear it for yourself. It'll sink in at that moment you say it. As if saying the truth makes it real to you as well. And sometimes, it's exactly the truth which one fears, and does not want to face. Thus the hurt, and the bleeding, then the dying from the inside. Just because you were being honest with the one you love, you kill yourself.
