So apparently, today Warner Brothers decided to be a party pooper and screw the HP fans over, by delaying the release of Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince by NINE MONTHS. That's right, they decided that November 2008 wasn't a good enough date for them, and moved it to July 17, 2009. WHAT THE HELL.
I guess that explains the lack of trailer/ promotion/ interest on WB's part. But this does not bode well. There's one of three things happening:
a) Shenanigans RELATED TO TWILIGHT. It's getting released in December, and the WB might have feared that HP's thunder would have been stolen by the sparkly vampires. Nevermind that it is a truth universally known that Harry Potter>>>>>>>>>Twilight.
b) The movie sucks. And they can't pull it together in three months, so they're buying time to reshoot etc.
c) WB figured that July is their lucky month, and they are hoping to pull another TDK next year. Ain't gonna happen, because sadly the HP movies will never be that awesome. Unless they offer Chris Nolan a fortune to take over the franchise. IDK.
One thing's for sure. If they're gonna take a century to release this, they must make it really really good. I EXPECT PERFECTION.
See how my reaction is a little subdued? Shortly after I read the announcement, a shiny beacon of light appeared. New picture of Kate Winslet and Leo DiCaprio from Revolutionary Road!
Predictably, I started flailing. I mean, come on, it's the reunion of Kate and Leo! Their chemistry is undeniable and they look cute and perfect and gorgeous together. And then, as if my inner 13 year old wasn't squealing enough, Kate went and said this to Entertainment Weekly, about filming a love scene with Leo, with her husband directing it:
"I just kept saying, `This is too ... weird'. And Leo was like, `Oh, get over it.' And I'm going, `Yeah, a little reminder: You're my best friend. He's my husband. This is a bit weird.'"
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Then.
LMAO OMG
Now.
PS - For the record? I still think "My Heart Will Go On" is fierce and amazing, I still feel that surge of emotion when the drums kick in at the end of the song, and I still remember all the words. And Titanic may not be a perfect movie (hello, screenplay)... But it's a damn good one.
