I figure I should write a short piece in B locrian mode (BCDEFGAB scale...), with two violins and piano. The piano part would be more active, because I can't play violin all that well yet. Why B locrian? Because I'm nerdy with my metaphorical choice in keys.
Locrian mode by nature wants to wander off into other places. You try to tie it down but it doesn't want to stay. It's like its tonic is an unstable pole (gosh it's been ages since I took real math).
I was looking up YouTube videos of how other people use locrian mode. I like this guy's video. Apparently a lot of heavy metal is locrian. It figures.
So... I just spent an hour on YouTube, because I wrote down two measures and then I got stuck.
